Return Request Policy
Effective Date: July 2026 · Last Updated: July 2026
1. Introduction
At Paycul, our escrow system is designed to protect both Buyers and Sellers throughout every eligible transaction.
Rather than operating a traditional refund system, Paycul provides a structured Return Request process. This process gives Buyers and Sellers an opportunity to resolve issues before escrow funds are released.
A Return Request is intended to encourage communication, correction of genuine issues, and fair resolution while escrow funds remain securely held.
This Return Request Policy forms part of Paycul's Terms of Service and should be read together with our Escrow Policy and Buyer Protection Policy.
2. Purpose of a Return Request
A Return Request allows a Buyer to notify the Seller that there is an issue with the delivered product before escrow funds are released.
The objective is to allow the Seller an opportunity to:
- Correct the issue.
- Replace missing files.
- Provide valid access credentials.
- Clarify misunderstandings.
- Accept the return request.
- Resolve the matter without requiring a formal dispute.
Submitting a Return Request does not automatically determine that either party is at fault.
3. Why Paycul Uses Return Requests Instead of Refunds
Most products sold on Paycul are digital products.
Unlike physical goods, digital products:
- Can usually be downloaded immediately.
- May be copied.
- Cannot always be returned after delivery.
- May continue to be accessible after download.
For these reasons, Paycul does not operate a general refund system.
Instead, eligible transactions are protected through escrow, Return Requests, and dispute resolution.
Where appropriate, escrow funds may ultimately be returned to the Buyer following seller’s acceptance of a Return Request or a dispute decision.
4. When a Buyer May Submit a Return Request
A Buyer may submit a Return Request before escrow funds have been released if they reasonably believe that the delivered product does not substantially match the Seller's listing.
Examples include:
- Incorrect product delivered.
- Invalid login credentials.
- Broken or inaccessible download links.
- Missing essential files.
- Corrupted files that cannot reasonably be used.
- The delivered product is materially different from the description.
- Duplicate payment caused by a verified technical issue.
- Other significant issues affecting the transaction.
Each Return Request is evaluated based on its individual circumstances.
5. Situations Where a Return Request May Not Be Appropriate
A Return Request should not be submitted solely because:
- The Buyer changed their mind.
- The Buyer no longer wants the product.
- The Buyer failed to read the listing before purchasing.
- The Buyer selected the wrong product.
- The product functions as described but does not meet the Buyer's personal expectations.
- The Buyer lacks the technical knowledge required to use the product where reasonable instructions were provided.
Submitting a Return Request without a genuine basis may affect future Buyer Protection.
6. Buyer Responsibilities
Before submitting a Return Request, Buyers should:
- Carefully inspect the delivered product.
- Review the product description again.
- Confirm that the issue is genuine.
- Test files, links, or login credentials.
- Contact the Seller through Paycul's messaging system.
- Allow the Seller a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue.
Buyers should not release escrow funds while a genuine issue remains unresolved.
7. Seller Responsibilities
When a Return Request is received, Sellers are expected to respond promptly and professionally.
A Seller may:
- Accept the Return Request.
- Reject the Return Request.
- Upload corrected files.
- Replace invalid credentials.
- Deliver missing components.
- Explain the issue.
- Offer another reasonable solution.
Prompt cooperation often results in faster resolution and a better marketplace experience for both parties.
8. Return Request Process
The Return Request process generally follows these steps:
- Step 1: Buyer identifies an issue with the delivered product.
- Step 2: Buyer communicates with the Seller through Paycul.
- Step 3: Buyer submits a Return Request if the issue remains unresolved.
- Step 4: The Seller reviews the request and responds.
- Step 5: If both parties reach an agreement, the transaction is completed accordingly.
- Step 6: If no agreement is reached, either party may escalate the matter by opening a formal dispute.
Throughout this process, eligible escrow funds remain securely held until the transaction is resolved.
9. Time Limits
Return Requests should be submitted within the review period displayed for the transaction.
Once escrow funds have been voluntarily released by the Buyer, the Return Request process generally becomes unavailable for that transaction.
Buyers are therefore encouraged to inspect all delivered products promptly after delivery.
10. Effect on Escrow
Submitting a valid Return Request temporarily pauses the normal completion process for the transaction.
While a Return Request is active:
- Escrow funds remain securely held.
- The Seller cannot withdraw the escrow funds.
- The Buyer cannot cancel the transaction unilaterally.
- Both parties are encouraged to work together toward a resolution.
If the Return Request is resolved successfully, the transaction will proceed according to the agreed outcome or the applicable Paycul policies.
11. Seller Response Options
After receiving a Return Request, the Seller may respond in one of the following ways:
- Accept the Return Request.
- Reject the Return Request.
- Deliver corrected or replacement files.
- Replace invalid access credentials.
- Provide missing files or components.
- Clarify misunderstandings regarding the listing.
- Communicate with the Buyer to reach a mutually acceptable solution.
Sellers are encouraged to respond promptly and professionally. Failure to respond within the applicable response period may affect the outcome if the matter is later escalated to a dispute.
12. Acceptance of a Return Request
If the Seller accepts the Return Request:
- The transaction will proceed according to the agreed resolution.
- Where applicable, the Seller should first secure or revoke access to any previously delivered digital assets before confirming acceptance.
- Once the Return Request is completed, Paycul may return the escrow funds to the Buyer where appropriate.
- The transaction will then be marked as closed.
Acceptance of a Return Request does not constitute an admission of fault by the Seller.
13. Rejection of a Return Request
If the Seller believes the Return Request is not justified, the Seller may reject it.
Examples may include:
- The delivered product matches the listing.
- The reported issue cannot be reproduced.
- The Buyer has misunderstood the product description.
- The issue results from the Buyer's own actions or environment.
- The Buyer has not provided sufficient information to demonstrate a genuine problem.
When rejecting a Return Request, the Seller should provide a clear explanation and any relevant supporting evidence where available.
14. Escalation to a Dispute
If the Buyer and Seller are unable to resolve a Return Request through communication, either party may escalate the matter by opening a formal dispute.
Once a dispute has been opened:
- The Return Request process is paused.
- Escrow funds remain securely held.
- Paycul will begin an independent review.
- Both parties may be required to submit additional evidence.
The dispute process is governed by Paycul's Escrow Policy and Terms of Service.
15. Investigation Process
When reviewing a dispute arising from a Return Request, Paycul may consider:
- The product listing.
- Delivery records.
- Chat history between the Buyer and Seller.
- Files submitted during the transaction.
- Screenshots and screen recordings.
- Technical information.
- Login history where relevant.
- Security logs.
- Previous transaction history where appropriate.
- Any other relevant evidence.
Each case is assessed individually.
16. Possible Outcomes
After reviewing all available information, Paycul may determine that:
Outcome 1 – Return Request Accepted
Where the evidence supports the Buyer's claim, Paycul may approve the Return Request. Depending on the circumstances:
- Escrow funds may be returned to the Buyer.
- The Seller may be instructed to recover or disable access to the delivered product where reasonably possible.
- Additional enforcement action may be taken if policy violations are identified.
Outcome 2 – Return Request Rejected
Where the evidence supports the Seller's position, the Return Request may be rejected. In such cases:
- Escrow funds may be released to the Seller.
- The transaction will be considered completed.
Outcome 3 – Partial Resolution
In some situations, a balanced outcome may be more appropriate. Examples include:
- Only part of the delivered product was defective.
- Missing files are supplied after the Return Request.
- The Buyer and Seller reach a negotiated agreement.
Where appropriate, Paycul may facilitate a mutually agreed resolution consistent with its policies.
17. Fraudulent Return Requests
Paycul has zero tolerance for abuse of the Return Request process.
Examples of prohibited conduct include:
- Submitting false claims.
- Providing fabricated or altered evidence.
- Claiming non-delivery after successfully accessing the product.
- Attempting to obtain both the product and the escrow funds.
- Misrepresenting technical issues.
- Filing repeated bad-faith Return Requests.
Users found engaging in fraudulent conduct may face:
- Account suspension.
- Permanent account termination.
- Loss of Buyer Protection.
- Administrative penalties.
- Restrictions on future marketplace activity.
- Referral to appropriate authorities where required by law.
18. Seller Misconduct
Paycul may take enforcement action where a Seller is found to have acted dishonestly or in violation of Platform policies.
Examples include:
- Misrepresenting products.
- Delivering unauthorized or stolen digital assets.
- Repeatedly supplying defective or unusable products.
- Providing intentionally invalid access credentials.
- Refusing to cooperate in the Return Request process.
- Attempting to bypass Paycul's escrow system.
Enforcement actions may include listing removal, account restrictions, suspension, termination, withholding of payouts where permitted by law, or other appropriate measures.
19. Administrative Penalties
Where either party intentionally abuses the Return Request process, Paycul may impose administrative penalties in accordance with its Terms of Service.
Penalties may include:
- Temporary account restrictions.
- Permanent suspension.
- Removal of listings.
- Loss of referral or promotional benefits.
- Monetary administrative penalties where permitted by law.
- Other enforcement actions necessary to protect the integrity of the Platform.
20. Final Decisions
Following a completed investigation, Paycul will communicate its decision to the parties involved.
Unless otherwise required by applicable law, decisions made after a full review of the available evidence are considered final.
Users are expected to comply with the outcome of the investigation.
21. Changes to this Return Request Policy
Paycul may update this Return Request Policy from time to time to reflect:
- Changes in applicable laws.
- Improvements to Platform operations.
- Security enhancements.
- Updates to the escrow process.
- New marketplace features.
Where material changes are made, appropriate notice will be provided through the Platform or other suitable communication channels.
The "Last Updated" date at the beginning of this Policy indicates the most recent revision.
