Buyer Protection Policy

Effective Date: July 2026  ·  Last Updated: July 2026

1. Introduction

Paycul is committed to creating a secure and trustworthy marketplace where Buyers can confidently purchase digital products.

Our Buyer Protection Program is built around Paycul's escrow system, Return Request process, and dispute resolution framework. Together, these features help protect Buyers from fraud, misrepresentation, and non-delivery while ensuring that honest Sellers are treated fairly.

This Buyer Protection Policy explains what protections are available, how they work, and what Buyers must do to remain eligible for protection.

This Policy forms part of Paycul's Terms of Service and should be read together with our Escrow Policy, Return Request Policy, Seller Policy, and other applicable Platform policies.

2. What is Buyer Protection?

Buyer Protection is Paycul's commitment to helping ensure that eligible transactions are completed fairly.

For qualifying transactions, Buyer Protection helps safeguard Buyers when:

  • A Seller fails to deliver the purchased product.
  • The delivered product is materially different from its listing.
  • Essential files are missing.
  • Download links or access credentials are invalid and are not corrected within a reasonable period.
  • The transaction involves fraudulent or deceptive conduct.
  • Another issue arises that materially affects the Buyer's ability to receive what was purchased.

Buyer Protection is available only for transactions completed through Paycul's escrow system.

3. How Buyer Protection Works

For eligible transactions, the process generally follows these steps:

  1. The Buyer places an order.
  2. Payment is securely held in Paycul Escrow.
  3. The Seller delivers the product.
  4. The Buyer reviews the delivery.
  5. If a problem exists, the Buyer submits a Return Request.
  6. The Seller has an opportunity to resolve the issue.
  7. If necessary, either party may escalate the matter to a dispute.
  8. Paycul reviews the available evidence and determines the appropriate outcome.

Throughout this process, eligible escrow funds remain protected until the transaction is resolved.

4. Transactions Covered

Buyer Protection generally applies to eligible purchases made through Paycul's escrow system, including approved digital products such as:

  • Software.
  • Source code.
  • Website templates.
  • Graphics and design assets.
  • Digital courses.
  • eBooks.
  • Marketing resources.
  • Business templates.
  • Creative assets.
  • Other approved digital products.

Paycul may determine whether a particular transaction qualifies for Buyer Protection based on its policies.

5. What Buyer Protection Covers

Depending on the circumstances, Buyer Protection may apply where:

Non-Delivery

The Seller fails to deliver the purchased product within the agreed delivery period.

Material Misrepresentation

The delivered product is materially different from the listing. Examples include:

  • Wrong product delivered.
  • Major advertised features are missing.
  • Files differ substantially from what was advertised.
  • The listing contains misleading information that materially affects the transaction.

Invalid Delivery

The Seller provides:

  • Invalid login credentials.
  • Broken download links.
  • Corrupted files.
  • Files that cannot reasonably be accessed.
  • Missing essential components required for normal use.

Fraudulent Activity

Buyer Protection may apply where Paycul determines that the Seller has engaged in fraudulent conduct affecting the transaction.

6. What Buyer Protection Does Not Cover

Buyer Protection is not intended to protect against every situation. It generally does not apply where:

  • The Buyer changed their mind after purchase.
  • The Buyer failed to read the product description.
  • The Buyer purchased the wrong product.
  • The Buyer ignored compatibility requirements clearly stated in the listing.
  • The product functions substantially as described but does not meet the Buyer's personal preferences.
  • The Buyer voluntarily released escrow funds before identifying the issue.
  • The Buyer conducted the transaction outside Paycul.

Each case will still be reviewed based on its individual circumstances.

7. Buyer Responsibilities

To remain eligible for Buyer Protection, Buyers should:

  • Carefully review the product listing before purchasing.
  • Read all product specifications.
  • Verify compatibility with intended use.
  • Complete payment through Paycul.
  • Keep all communication within the Platform.
  • Inspect the delivered product promptly.
  • Report genuine issues without unnecessary delay.
  • Submit a Return Request before releasing escrow funds where appropriate.
  • Cooperate honestly during investigations.

Failure to take reasonable steps may affect eligibility for Buyer Protection.

8. Keep Communication on Paycul

Buyer Protection works best when all transaction-related communication occurs through Paycul's messaging system.

Messages exchanged outside the Platform may be difficult or impossible for Paycul to verify during an investigation.

For this reason, Buyers are strongly encouraged to:

  • Discuss product questions through Paycul.
  • Respond to Sellers using the Platform.
  • Avoid moving conversations to external messaging applications.

Communication maintained on the Platform helps ensure that an accurate record is available if a Return Request or dispute becomes necessary.

9. Never Release Escrow Funds Early

Escrow funds should only be released after the Buyer has confirmed that:

  • The correct product has been delivered.
  • All required files have been received.
  • Access credentials function correctly.
  • The product substantially matches the listing.
  • No unresolved issues remain.

Once escrow funds have been voluntarily released, Buyer Protection may become limited or unavailable for that transaction.

Buyers should never release escrow funds based solely on promises that issues will be corrected later.

10. Return Requests

If a Buyer discovers a genuine issue with a delivered product, the Buyer should submit a Return Request through Paycul before the escrow review period expires.

A Return Request allows the Seller an opportunity to:

  • Correct the issue.
  • Replace files.
  • Provide valid credentials.
  • Explain misunderstandings.
  • Accept or reject the request.

Many issues can be resolved quickly without requiring a formal dispute.

Submitting a Return Request promptly helps preserve Buyer Protection and prevents premature release of escrow funds.

11. Escalating to a Dispute

If a Buyer and Seller are unable to resolve a Return Request through communication, either party may escalate the matter by opening a formal dispute.

Once a dispute has been opened:

  • The Return Request process is suspended.
  • Escrow funds remain securely held.
  • Neither party may unilaterally complete the transaction.
  • Paycul will begin an independent review based on the available evidence.

Both parties are expected to cooperate honestly throughout the investigation.

12. Investigation Process

When reviewing a dispute, Paycul aims to make a fair and impartial decision based on the available information.

During an investigation, we may review:

  • Product listings.
  • Delivery records.
  • Messages exchanged through Paycul.
  • Uploaded files.
  • Screenshots and screen recordings.
  • Technical evidence.
  • Security logs.
  • Transaction history.
  • Previous account history where relevant.
  • Any additional evidence submitted by either party.

Each case is evaluated on its own facts and circumstances.

13. Evidence Buyers Should Keep

To help protect their interests, Buyers are encouraged to retain evidence relating to their transaction.

Useful evidence may include:

  • Screenshots.
  • Screen recordings.
  • Download error messages.
  • Invalid login attempts.
  • Missing file confirmations.
  • Communications with the Seller.
  • Any other information demonstrating the issue.

Providing complete and accurate evidence helps Paycul investigate disputes more efficiently.

14. Circumstances That May Affect Buyer Protection

Buyer Protection may be limited or unavailable where a Buyer:

  • Voluntarily releases escrow funds before identifying a genuine issue.
  • Provides false or misleading information.
  • Refuses to cooperate during an investigation.
  • Attempts to abuse the Return Request process.
  • Conducts all or part of the transaction outside Paycul.
  • Shares account credentials with unauthorized persons.
  • Violates Paycul's Terms of Service or other applicable policies.

Each matter will be assessed individually.

15. Transactions Outside Paycul

Buyer Protection applies only to transactions completed through Paycul's escrow system.

If a Buyer chooses to:

  • Pay the Seller directly,
  • Complete the transaction outside Paycul,
  • Communicate exclusively through external platforms, or
  • Circumvent the escrow process,

Paycul may be unable to investigate the transaction or provide Buyer Protection.

For your security, always complete payments, communication, and transaction management through Paycul.

16. Fraud Prevention

Buyer Protection is intended to assist honest users.

Examples of prohibited conduct include:

  • Filing false Return Requests.
  • Submitting fabricated or altered evidence.
  • Attempting to obtain both the product and the escrow funds.
  • Coordinating fraudulent disputes.
  • Creating multiple accounts to abuse marketplace protections.

Users who abuse Buyer Protection may face:

  • Account suspension.
  • Permanent account termination.
  • Loss of Buyer Protection eligibility.
  • Administrative penalties.
  • Restriction of marketplace features.
  • Referral to appropriate authorities where required by applicable law.

17. Our Marketplace Commitment

Paycul is committed to maintaining a fair marketplace for both Buyers and Sellers.

Our Buyer Protection Program is designed to:

  • Encourage honest transactions.
  • Reduce fraud.
  • Promote communication.
  • Resolve disputes fairly.
  • Protect escrow funds until transactions are completed.
  • Support trust between marketplace participants.

Buyer Protection is not intended to guarantee a perfect transaction in every circumstance, but to provide a structured and impartial process for resolving eligible issues.

18. No Guarantee of Product Suitability

While Buyer Protection helps address issues relating to delivery and material misrepresentation, Paycul does not guarantee that every product will meet a Buyer's personal expectations or intended purpose.

Buyers remain responsible for:

  • Reviewing product descriptions.
  • Assessing compatibility.
  • Evaluating whether a product meets their individual needs before purchasing.

19. Changes to this Buyer Protection Policy

Paycul may update this Buyer Protection Policy from time to time to reflect:

  • Changes in applicable laws.
  • Improvements to Platform operations.
  • Updates to escrow procedures.
  • Security enhancements.
  • New marketplace features.

Where material changes are made, appropriate notice will be provided through the Platform or other suitable communication channels.

The "Last Updated" date at the beginning of this Policy indicates the latest revision.
